A new Era of beige with Mocha Mousse: Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2025

A new Era of beige with Mocha Mousse: Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2025

As with every new year, a new Pantone Colour is unveiled, and this year's choice has caused quite a bit of controversy!

The year of 2025 has been dedicated to the colour ‘Mocha mousse’ and we’re here for it. At Danetti, we research and forecast trends in both colours and interiors, and we have long been talking about new neutrals taking over we think it has come at the perfect time.

So what’s the controversy? Mocha mousse is a warm velvety shade of beige and with that comes the condemnation of ‘boring beige’. Understandably beige has a history of being the go-to colour of non-interest for waiting rooms and un-inspiring living rooms. However, over the last decade, as we have slowly moved away from the cool grey minimalist era, beige has made a comeback in a good way. Beige has become a colour of warmth, comfort, elegance and sophistication and it's understandable after the last few years of chaos, that we are gravitating towards colours that offer comfort and stability in our homes, a true sanctuary to retreat. Therefore ‘Mocha Mousse’ isn’t just a colour, it’s a mood. A little grounded, a little bit of luxury, and exactly what we need right now.

Reflecting the Post-Covid Vibe

The chaos that we are all eager to avoid by retreating to our safe space is a mix of economic turmoil and comedown from a post-Covid boom. People are rethinking how they spend their money and design their spaces. It’s no longer about flash and fast trends. It’s about creating homes that feel safe and calm, and investing in pieces that exude timeless luxury. Mocha Mousse is a colour that taps into that perfectly. It’s soft and earthy, but still feels rich and intentional. It’s the perfect example of the ‘Quiet Luxury’ trend which is why we think this year, Pantone has hit the nail on the head.

Pairing with 2025 Interior Trends

We’re excited to see Mocha featured as a key pick for 2025 as it aligns perfectly with what’s happening with furniture and interior trends right now and for 2025. We are seeing an influx of curved furniture reminiscent of organic shapes, fabrics in warm shades with plenty of texture and depth, and high quality, durable materials like ceramic that replicate the beauty of natural pattern.

At Danetti we have had Mocha on our minds for quite some time already, and with that we have designed and launched lots of wonderful new products that bring mocha into your home in luxe, textured fabrics, as well as with our new lighting launch with the Mocha Riley collection. Our favourite picks from the range that tie in 2025 trends and the warmth of Mocha are:

Sustainability and Longevity

Another logical reason for considering Mocha as the colour of the year is its relation to nature and therefore sustainability. Mocha is a colour that feels like nature, driven by its earthy rich tone and availability to pair perfectly with natural colour and pattern like olive greens and marble veining. Alongside this, as the years go by, we have become more and more acutely aware of how our home styling and purchasing decisions can affect the planet and we are becoming more considerate in our choices. We want furniture and decor that is timeless and adaptable, that can evolve gracefully within our homes over time, making Mocha the perfect choice to last the test of time. At Danetti we have added Mocha into our wonderfully durable recycled velvet range, with the Heath and Cree dining chairs being just a few to name!

So in summary… Why Mocha Mousse? Because it’s exactly what we need - a colour that grounds us, comforts us, and brings a little bit of understated luxury into our homes. As we step into a year where thoughtful design and mindful living take centre stage, this warm, earthy tone feels like the perfect backdrop for whatever comes next. And personally, I can’t wait to bring more of it into my home!

Ready to work Mocha mousse into your home? Here’s our teams’ top picks and why:

Aimee, Junior Buyer says ‘Mocha is such a rich and inviting colour that it is hard just to pick one product, my favourite mocha pieces together is the Heath Dining Chair with the Riley double bulb mocha range as these pieces reflect and shine together, giving a warm and inviting atmosphere.’

Saskia, Assistant buyer says ‘The Leighton Dining chair in Mocha Chenille, because I prefer more statement design and Leighton is a brilliant option in mocha as it not only has a really bold cantilever shape, in mocha tones it pairs beautifully with our natural ceramics.

And finally, our in-house stylist Ellie says ‘The Marlow barstool in mocha chenille because when I took it down to the showroom, a customer lost their mind at it and was trying to sit on it before I even put it down! I also love the Heath Mocha dining chair as it shoots beautifully with so many of our tables and I love all the photography with it on site!’.
